Rogers, Sarah "Sadie" M., 89, R.K. MacDonald Nursing Home and formerly of Shamrock Acres and Roman Valley, died Wednesday, April 27, 2011 at the nursing home.

Born January 3, 1922, in Springfield, Antigonish County, she was the daughter of the late Dan and Nina (Kennedy) MacPherson.

Sadie graduated from Normal College in Truro and taught in schools in Roman Valley and Half Island Cove. After the death of her husband, Joseph, in 1967, she moved her family to Antigonish and took a bookkeeping course at Mount St. Bernard. She was employed by Goodman & Company for 20 years until her retirement. Sadie was an avid card player.

Surviving are daughters, Roberta, Antigonish, Thelma (John) Rovers, Tracadie and Veronica (Clyde) Thornhill, Timberlea; son, Jerome, Spryfield; grandchildren, Aaron (Nicole) Rovers, Tanya (Mike) Davis, Tyson (Karen) Rovers, Justin Rovers, Stephen (Amanda) Thornhill, Jacqueline Thornhill, Christopher Rogers; nine great-grandchildren; and brother-in-law Ambrose Bowles.

She was predeceased by her husband Joseph and sister Teresa Bowles.

Visitation will be Thursday from 7 to 9pm and Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm in the C.L. Curry Funeral Home, 135 College Street, Antigonish. Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 am Saturday in St. Patrick's Church, Guysborough Intervale, with Fr. John Barry presiding. Burial in the parish cemetery.  Sadie's family thank the staff of the R.K. MacDonald Nusing Home for the great care they gave to their mother.
