Muloin, Sylvia Joy, 68, Brookland Street, Antigonish passed away at St. Martha's Regional Hospital on September 14, 2010.
Born in Parrsboro, she was a daughter of the late Axel and Lavonah (Welsh) Yorke.
Sylvia lived most of her married life in Western Canada, returning to Nova Scotia in the spring of 2008. She was a selfless, kind and caring person with an inner strength that allowed her to achieve anything she set her mind to. She was best known for her gardening and culinary creations, her musical talents, her tailor-made clothing, and knitted/crocheted works of art. It was a special honour to be a recipient of one of her creations. Though an accomplished homemaker, she also extended her talents to the workforce in retail and banking, spending the last five years before retirement in processing for a large department store on the outskirts of Calgary.
Surviving are her son, Stephen (Pam), Acheson, Alta; daughter, Lavonah (Bob) Madden, Malignant Cove; brothers: Carroll "Crow" (Jackie), Greenwood; Pat, London, Ont.; Garry (Brenda), Dutton, Ont.; sister, Beverly, Amherst; father-in-law, Joseph Muloin, Sr., Hanna, Alta; brother-in-law, Laurent (Hilda), Shell Lake, Sask.; sisters-in-law: Lorraine, Alliance, Alta, Lucille, Castor, Alta, and Louise, Waasis, NB; granddaughter: Kirstie; step grandchildren: Rob (Anna) and Tom (Ximena); step great grandchildren: Robby, Nicolas, Mina; special God daughter, Nicki, several nieces and nephews as well as many friends in Nova Scotia and in Western Canada.
She was predeceased by her husband of 46 years, Joseph Jr; brothers: Lawrence, Floden, Ricky, Gregory and mother-in-law, Cecile.
Visitation will be in C.L. Curry Funeral Home, 135 College Street, Antigonish on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. Funeral service will be held in C.L. Curry Funeral Home on Saturday at 10:00 am with Reverend Rebecca Sample presiding. Burial in St. Margaret of Scotland Cemetery, Arisaig.
Memorial donations may be made to the St. Martha's Regional Hospital Foundation (Cancer Resource Room) or the Antigonish Palliative Care Society.
