WOOD, Derek Noel
Clement, 71, Landing Road, Antigonish, passed away at home on August
10, 2010.
Born in Nagpur, India,
December 23, 1938, he was the son of the late George and Helen
Wood.
Derek was educated at
Oxford University and worked as a professor at St. Francis Xavier
University for thirty-seven years. He was Chair of the St. F.X.
English Department and Nova Scotia Professors Union. Dr. Wood was a
John Milton specialist and published a book and many articles on the
subject. He coached rugby at St. F.X. for over 30 years and is in
the St. F.X. Sports Hall of Fame.
He is survived by his
wife Maria Grazia (Bruschi) Wood, daughter, Lara (Jason) Aube and
grandchild, Jack Liam Aube, Moncton; son, Marco Wood, Halifax; sister,
Anne (Unto) Salvolainen, France; brother, Jeff Wood, London,
England.
Visitation in C.L.
Curry Funeral Home, 135 College Street, Antigonish on Thursday from 2
to 4 and 7 to 9 pm on Thursday. Funeral Mass will be held In St.
Ninian's Cathedral on Friday at 1:00 pm. Burial in the parish
cemetery.
